So, the NFU has called for an inquiry into slaughterhouse and retailer beef profits. Don’t hold your breath.

Since May 1, area producers have been able to meet all their agricultural concerns at the newest Saskatchewan Agriculture office in Kindersley. Back in the spring of 1996, the Rural Service Centre Extension Office in Leader was closed with producers calling a 1-800 number to have their questions answered.

A deep freeze with extreme wind chills has encompassed the Southwest for much of the previous eight days, but Mother Nature’s wrath has been felt right across the prairies, through to northwest Ontario.
Environment Canada warned of windchill values as low as -50ºC over the weekend, and wind chill temperatures rarely rose above the -40ºC mark.

The Midget Blues remain undefeated with two more wins this weekend. The game in Consul against Maple Creek Hawks that was scheduled for Tuesday December 8 was postponed until December 16 due to the -35C temperature.
