New hospital needed
Dear editor,
As Saskatchewanians, we enjoy many privilages – citizens of a free country; a country built by integrity, sacrifice and determination.
Our laws are based on Christian ethics, for government was established by God. Although there has been departure from it, the mosaic law as set out in Genesis (the first book of the bible) is still the basis of many of our laws today – “Thou shalt not kill”, “Thou shalt not steal” etc. The western world has been prospered because of this. Our governments make laws for our protection and well being. I believe most of us pay our just dues and taxes and reap the benefits. In contrast, the hordes of humanity in heathen and apostate countries live a deplorable life in the most degraded and demoralizing conditions.
Our government has taken on the responsibility for its citizens in the areas of 1) public safety 2) education 3) highways 4) social services 5) medical services, to name a few. There are over 100 listings in the government blue pages of our phone book. The value of minorities, the potention of our youth, and the untapped natural resources (which again we can attribute to God’s creatorial provision) are what will see this province grow and thrive.
Now I ask: what country, community, family or individual can prosper and contribute without adequate medical services. Fast forward to southwest Saskatchewan, and we’ll give a close up shot of Maple Creek as an example, although we are not alone. The conservative government researched and promised a new integrated health facility. A group of dedicated citizens formed a steering committee and have spent endless hours of research, work, planning and representation. The have sacrificed their time, and have inspired the whole community. From individuals, to corporations, to Hutterite colonies to gas companies to donate funds. We have done so with the same spirit of integrity, sacrifice and determination that have helped make this province what it is today. The Cypress Heath Region must take on responsibility for the delays and departures from original promises. They must respond positively. To not do so, you are shooting yourself in your own foot, and will there be a doctor or hospital to care for you?
