Where Will This Fan Wear The Bag Now?

TORONTO (TheBadgerCA) – With the continuation of the NHL lockout, hockey fans are now very concerned about the state of their favourite sport.  The situation is worsened for fans of the Toronto Maple Leafs who wonder not only how they will get their hockey fix, but also where they will be able to quell their annual addiction to bitter, grieving disappointment.Particularly hit hard is Toronto Transit Commission bus driver Luke Morrison who will find this the first year since 1993 that he hasn’t awoken to the feeling of nagging disappointment.

“I truly don’t know what the hell I’m going to do.  This is going to be tough for all us Leafers.  When the playoffs rolled around, and the Leafs were once again not in it, I had to adjust the LED display at the front of the bus so that it wouldn’t flash “GO LEAFS GO!” in mid-March.  I used to be able to count on that.  Now what do I do?”

Vanessa Gabriel, a bank teller at CIBC, shares the concern.

“This is awful.  Bettman doesn’t know what he’s doing.  We need this.  Toronto needs this.  This is something that we count on every year and you can’t take this away from us.  I see people coming in with Leaf shirts on, and they’ll see my Leafs lanyard that I keep my computer pass card on, and we’ll talk about how crappy the team is, how MLSE is not doing anything to improve the team, all of that.  Now, I don’t know what I’ll talk to them about.  No idea.  I’ve tried supporting the other losing teams in Toronto.  The Raptors.  Toronto FC.  It’s just not the same.”

Chas  Miller, a lawyer at a downtown firm and part-time golfer and curler had stronger opinions.

“Look, we need this.  I need this.  This, this is bullshit.  [Gary] Bettman has to sort this out.  I can’t believe that one of our own [lawyers] is making this shit happen.  What am I going to do?  Where am I going to go to feel depressed and shitty?  Seriously?  The Leafs you can count on.  What now, hang out with my goddamn wife?  No way, that’s bullshit.

NHL negotiations continue.
