Badger News Media was established in 2009 by Sheri Monk.

Originally from Winnipeg, Monk moved to Maple Creek in 2007 from Winnipeg after falling in love with the rolling hills and rugged terrain of the Southwest during several vacations and one honeymoon. Monk accepted a position as reporter and photographer at the Maple Creek News-Times and worked at the twice-weekly paper for two years, attaining the position of editor.

Seeing a need for wider, rural coverage, Monk began The Badger and has been continuing to make history ever since.

Headquartered at Maple Creek, Saskatchewan, Badger News Media produces a weekly newspaper called The Badger and a news website, www.thebadger.ca.

Both unique products are designed to serve readers in the rural communities of southwest Saskatchewan and southeast Alberta. Badger News Media also offers marketing and communications services, photography and web design.

Badger News Media is committed to providing accurate, timely, informative and entertaining content to reader, in turn providing a valuable marketing platform for local business.
