Badger News Media was established in 2009 by Sheri Monk and Lennart Pettersson.
Headquartered at Leader, Saskatchewan, Badger News Media produces a weekly newspaper called The Badger and a news website, www.thebadger.ca.

Both unique products are designed to serve readers in the rural communities of southwest Saskatchewan and southeast Alberta. Badger News Media also offers marketing and communications services, photography and web design.

Monk and Pettersson moved to Maple Creek in 2007 from Winnipeg after falling in love with the rolling hills and rugged terrain of the Southwest during several vacations and one honeymoon. Monk accepted a position as reporter and photographer at the Maple Creek News-Times and worked at the twice-weekly paper for two years, attaining the position of editor.

When she left, Monk had won several awards for reporting and investigative work in the newspaper industry. Pettersson brings to the company years of graphic and web design experience. Steve Monk will be moved recently from Winnipeg to Leader and became Badger News Media’s sales and marketing manager.
