What started as a quest to end itchy skin has become a successful home-based business with a local connection. Shane and Phyl Bergdahl of Edmonton have been operating Maple Creek Soapworks as a sideline out of their Edmonton home for the past six years.
After a chance stay in a Canmore hotel that offered soap made from natural products, the Bergdahls decided to try making similar products for their own use.

A dog recently found starving on the streets of Leader has been returned to its rightful home. An SPCA investigation was initiated – by request of the owners, who requested their names not be published.
“She wasn’t going to come, but I called back to say, ‘Can you please come?” explained the owner, saying they wanted to have the opportunity to officially tell their side of the story.
